As I write this, I am reminded of The High Priestess tarot card. This card depicts a woman seated before a delicate veil adorned with pomegranates. This veil symbolizes the distinction between the conscious and subconscious realms, the visible and the invisible. Only those who are initiated are allowed to pass through. The pomegranates on the veil signify abundance, fertility, and the divine feminine, sacred to Persephone, who consumed pomegranate seeds in the underworld and was compelled to return each year.
The High Priestess serves as the guardian of the subconscious and a teacher of sacred wisdom and hidden truths. Positioned at the boundary of the conscious and subconscious, she possesses an inherent ability to navigate these realms with ease. She reveals that reality is not always as it appears, and deeper forces often influence our lives. This card symbolizes profound intuitive insights and enhancing perception of concealed or secret knowledge.
When we meditate, create sacred space, or have a spiritual experience, we are guided through this veil. As we approach Halloween and Samhain, the veil is thinning. Why? During this time of year, many cultures and traditions believe that the boundary between the physical world and the spiritual realm becomes more permeable. This thinning of the veil is often associated with the transition from autumn to winter, a period when nature itself appears to pause and transform. It’s a time when the days grow shorter and the nights longer, inviting introspection and connection with our inner selves and the unseen.
Halloween and Samhain mark the end of the harvest season and the beginning of the darker half of the year. It is considered a powerful time for honoring ancestors, reflecting on the past, and celebrating the cyclical nature of life and death.
This period encourages us to embrace change, let go of what no longer serves us, and open ourselves to new beginnings. It’s an invitation to connect with the mysteries of life, honor our ancestors, and celebrate the rich tapestry of existence. Whether through meditation, rituals, or simple reflection, this season provides a unique opportunity to explore the depths of our spirituality and the timeless connection we have with the universe.
For this reason, I scheduled the Connect with Your Intuition Workshop on October 23, 2024. I hope you join me.
